Just 8 km from Viterbo, following the Strada Teverina you can reach Ferento, the Roman city founded in the third century. BC, which reached its maximum splendor in the imperial age and during the Middle Ages it was among the main antagonists of the city of Viterbo.

CASTEL D’ASSO TOWN AND NECROPOLIS

On the provincial road that leads to the Terme dei Papi (Strada Bagni), heading west from Viterbo, continuing along Strada Montarone and Via Procoio, the archaeological area of Castel d’asso can be reached just 8 km away, full of testimonies ranging from the Etruscan period to the Middle Ages. The archaeological area includes both the remains of a medieval castle (15th century), built on the ruins of the ancient Etruscan Roman city of Axia, and the Etruscan monumental necropolis of the rock type. (IV – I century BC.).
